Short Course: The Basics of Digital Imaging

Aim of the Course: To provide participants with a basic working knowledge of digital imaging including camera control, composition, image adjustment and presentation.

Course Tutors: Veronica Congleton, Gary Smith and Mike Sadler

Outline Course Syllabus:
Basic Camera control & settings [Including reference to ISO, aperture, shutter speed and 'fixed auto' settings]
Photo composition and capture
What makes a good Photo
Transferring images from camera to computer
Workflow and introduction to Photoshop Elements
Processing using Photoshop Elements software
Preparing the finished image for presentation (printing or digital display) including resizing
Storing the finished image file in the PC
Participants will be encouraged to undertake practical exercises to develop their understanding and progress to a level of skill that meets their needs.
 

Course Fee:
A charge of £15 will be made to cover the cost of room hire, refreshments and consumables such as discs or tutorial notes. Participants will have access to use of a PPS laptop and software for the course duration, as well as access to a course tutor by email or telephone over the three weeks of the course.
